Basically yes, petWALK is compatible with common animal identification chips (FDX-B). However, since the range of implanted chips is shorter than that of external tags, we recommend first testing the recognition with your pet. Functionality with implanted chips cannot be guaranteed in practice due to external factors (such as fur thickness, chip position, etc.).
How secure is RFID detection against stray animals?
The access control ensures that only animals with an RFID chip registered in the pet door trigger the opening. The petWALK closes firmly and airtight after passing through as soon as no more movement is detected.
Does chip recognition also work in the event of a power outage?
The petWALK pet door has a backup power supply. This ensures that RFID access control remains active even in the event of a short-term power failure and your pet can safely return home.
What if my pet doesn't have a chip?
In this case, you can use the included RFID collar tags. These are particularly powerful and offer a higher detection range. Or you can rely solely on motion detection.
